The RWS Lions Club held its annual Peace Poster Contest. The theme was “The Power of Peace”. The 1st place winner was Tatyana S., James Flood School, and runners up were Seselia L., Caesar Chavez School, and Janae, James Flood School.

 

Lion Designates Grant to Sandpiper School

Lion Angie Tapang-Daniels was recently awarded a PG&E Community Service Award. As an award recipient, Lion Angie has designed the $250 award to be donated to Sandpiper Elementary School. The donation will help support the after school enrichment program. Congratulations and thank you Lion Angie!

Nestle Drinks Donated to the Community

Lion Jun Madrinan recently coordinated the donation of over 1,000 Nestle drinks from Maita Distribution, Inc. to the Sandpiper School teachers lounge and the Maple Street Shelter. These Nestle drinks will be enjoyed by many people. Thank you Lion Jun!

Lions Promote Fingerprinting at RWS Easter Egg Hunt

Recently, the RWS Lions Club partnered with Officer Faljean, Redwood City Police Department, to promote youth fingerprinting at the Annual RSOA Easter Egg Hunt. Lion Trevor Newman was very enthusiastic about this event and stated, “We are so pleased to be working closely with the Redwood City Police Department to offer this service to the community. Fingerprinting our children is an important precaution and takes only minutes to do.”

Lions Partner with Cub Scout Pack 61 to collect Used Eyeglasses

The RWS Lions are the local sponsor of Cub Scout Pack 61. This year, the Cub Scout Pack 61 and the RWS Lions are again partnering to collect used eyeglasses in the community. These used eyeglasses are cleaned and sorted at a Lions warehouse and distribution center. The used eyeglasses are then given to needy individuals around the world via the Lions In Sight Program. If you are interested in donating your used eyeglasses, please look for our eyeglass collection box at the Sandpiper Community Center.

Lions Co-Sponsor Twin Pines Senior Center Fundraiser May 21st

The RWS Lions are a co-sponsor of the “Night at the Opera” fundraiser dinner which will be held on May 21st at 6 pm at the Belmont Twin Pines Senior & Community Center. This benefit event will feature world renowned Opera Soprano Olga Chernisheva. Cost will be $50 per person or a table of eight persons for $375. Reservations can be made at Belmont.gov.

RWS Lions donate to the Maple Street Shelter lunch program

The Maple Street Shelter provides housing for needy adults. Many of these adults work and volunteers provide bag lunches to the shelter residents. The RWS Lions recently collected donations and donated lunch supplies to this wonderful program.

About the Redwood Shores Lions Club

The RWS Lions Club holds its general meeting on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Sandpiper Community Center. Anyone who is interested in welcome to attend. The Club has approximately 20 members who are young and young-at-heart working professionals. The Club is a family friendly group of individuals who enjoy giving back to the community while having fun at the same time. Since its inception, the Club has provided a variety of services to the community of Redwood Shores as well as other neighboring areas.
