Emergency Force Main Repair
Location: Redwood Shores Parkway and Marlin Drive
UPDATE: Redwood Shores Parkway eastbound lanes may still be affected in this repair project through an estimated completion date of April 21. Click for more details.
CURREN STATUS
Activities for the week of April 3 – 7
- The Contractor company, Power Engineering, finished installing the shoring
-
- The shoring is necessary to enable them to excavate the area and access the pipe.
- At the end of last week, Power began to excavate around the pipe using a vacuum truck and hand digging.
- The need for vacuuming and hand digging is due to the large amounts of utilities in the excavation area that we need to protect and keep in service.
Activities for the week of April 10 – 14
- Power Engineering workers will continue to excavate around the pipe so that they can install the repair clamp
- Anticipated completion of excavation is by mid-week.
- By late this week or early next, they will install the repair clamp.
Planned activities for the week of April 17 – 21
- The clamp should be placed on the pipe and the pipe will then be tested for leakage
- If the repair is successful, the excavation will be backfilled, the curb and gutter restored, then paving placed
- The area will be cleaned and all equipment and materials demobilized
