At the end of each August, your Redwood Shores Community Association has sponsored our Annual Levee Cleanup. To benefit the environment, the community bonds together to help beautify the nearly seven miles (yes, 7 miles!) of levee surrounding the Shores. And we need all the help we can get to cover those seven miles..
Date: Saturday, August 26 Time: 8:00 am until noon (lunch at 11:30) Place: Mariner Park, Redwood Shores, CA 94065 (click here for a MAP) Starters: Coffee, juice and bagels served at 8:00 am
Lunch: Meals for all hands at 11:30am
Crews: Qualifies as 4-hours of Community Service
The Shores Levee Cleanup is a fun community event. Residents and admirers of our beautiful Shores are all invited to join us in this very worthy annual event to help keep this neighborhood and wetland area clean. Volunteers will be assembled into teams and assigned cleanup areas. Kids and parents, adults and seniors are all welcome and encouraged to get involved. Family work groups handle their areas at their own pace; all help to keep these bountiful nature trails debris-free.
This is a great opportunity for Redwood City residents (and their friends) to enjoy a beautiful summer morning while experiencing a variety of birds and other wildlife. Volunteer and enjoy the splendor of our seven miles of shoreline, including incredible views of the bay.
We hope you will join us again this year for this worthy cause and opportunity to give back to your community. Please wear good walking shoes and consider bringing gloves; all pickup tools and trash bags will be provided. Take pride in enhancing this important Redwood City resource, and join us Saturday, August 26, starting at 8am.
Recology Systems Inc. provides the trash collection containers, and their assistance is gratefully acknowledged. Each year large amounts of trash are picked from the Redwood Shores Levee environment by our volunteers and removed by Recology Systems free of charge. Every piece of trash that is eliminated is important!

To acknowledge his faithful community service and leadership, this year’s cleanup is again dedicated to Pete Hughes. Pete organized this valued community initiative from the beginning and gained the continuing support of civic, business, and community leaders who support this public effort with their time and resources.
Silicon Valley Clean Water (SVCW) has provided notice that truck traffic will increase through September 20th along Redwood Shores Parkway.
Truck traffic along Redwood Shores Parkway will be greater than anticipated for approximately a four-week period starting the week of August 21, 2017. The increased traffic is being used to reduce the duration and overall impact of heavy truck traffic, for site preparation improvements at Silicon Valley Clean Water, on residents and businesses along Redwood Shores Parkway and Radio Road.
The project originally envisioned 50 truck trips per day. The contractor anticipates they will be using 150 truck trips per day to bring soil to the site. It is anticipated that delivery of the soil can be completed as early as September 20th. The trucks are required to drive in the right-hand lane and to obey the posted 25 mph speed limit.

The Redwood Shores Community Association joins students and residents of Redwood Shores in mourning the passing of our smiling crossing guard, Raymond Robinson. We will always keep with us memories of your cheerful wave!
A wall of remembrances has been posted at the corner of Bowsprit and Bridge, where Robinson served. Those who have had their days brightened by Robinson’s joyful time here in the Shores have been invited to share their thoughts, memories, and prayers.
Services will be held on August 1st at True Hope Church of God in Christ, 950 Gilman Avenue, San Francisco, CA. A viewing will be available from 9-10AM, and services will be held at 11AM. The Robinson family (through his daughter Dianita) can be reached for further information about the service; information can be found through a sign at the wall of remembrances (with respect to the family, contact information is not posted here online.)
