The current work is part of a system-wide program to enhance the safety and reliability of our natural gas lines that deliver natural gas to you, your neighbors home and local businesses.
This project will improve the safety and integrity of the pipelines that deliver natural gas directly to homes and businesses. Work began in early April, and is expected to last until mid-to-late June, although weather and other factors affecting safe working conditions could change the schedule. To learn more about this project and upcoming work, mark your calendars and join us as we share more details about the Shores project and answer your questions.
The format of the meeting is an Open House. There will not be any presentations; instead members of the project team and representatives from other PG&E departments will be available to answer questions and walk customers through the information that the customer would like covered.
More details on what to expect during this project:
Most of the pipelines that will be replaced are located under the street, although a portion of the replacement work will take place on private property. If your property will be affected, a PG&E representative will contact you before work begins. We will also let you know if your gas service will be interrupted. During construction, you will see PG&E trucks and other heavy equipment. At the end of the project, PG&E will refinish roadways and work with property owners to restore landscaping.
Traffic and parking impacts:
This work will affect traffic and parking at times during construction. PG&E will clearly mark all work areas, and traffic flaggers will help to direct traffic. Although access to some driveways may be occasionally affected, crews can provide access within a few minutes of your request. However, please plan ahead for these minor delays if crews are working outside your home or business, or when driving through the area.
At times, you may smell gas and hear a loud hissing noise as we vent natural gas from the pipeline using safe and common techniques. Although this is normal when crews are working, we encourage anyone who has concerns about the smell of gas to call us 24 hours a day at 1-800-743-5000.
If you have any questions or concerns about this project, please call PG&E’s Customer Care Representative, Austin Sharp at 650-730-4168.
